Why use it
Worth knowing that Charlotte counts bulky waste as one of its four core services rather than an extra, which is not true of every US city. It has to be scheduled either way: book it through the city's service request system or call CharMeck 311 on 704-336-7600. Appliances in particular must be scheduled and must never be put in a rollout cart. Apartments, condominiums and townhomes are covered; small businesses are not.

Kerb by 6am on the scheduled day and no sooner than the day before, with 3 feet between items. Unscheduled items are not collected at all. Appliances must be emptied and have the door removed, and glass must be taped in an X. Eligibility runs off garbage service: you must already receive City of Charlotte garbage collection. Changes or cancellations go through 311 by noon on the business day before.
